The Company is introducing SHIVATHENE BIOTECH RESIN for which technology and its assurance as to its efficiency is being extended by National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI) both national level research institutions. The new biodegradable plastic takes around four months to two years to disintegrate under soil burial conditions against 100 years in case of ordinary plastics. Plastic bags made from Shivathene Biotech Resin are as good as conventional Plastic bags in tensile strength and elongation. Moreover they can be heat-sealed, coloured, pigmented and printed upon.

Environmental pollution is caused by plastic Bags made from conventional plastic resin whereas plastic bags made from Shivathene Bio-tech resin will be eco-friendly and play an important role in areas of agriculture, horticulture, packaging, housewares and in afforestations schemes being carried on by the Central/State Govts. Governmental/Trade response received so far has been quite encouraging.

Plastic bags made with Shivathene Bio-tech will replace gradually the currently used plastic bags. The Company expects to tap the huge potential that exist for new products made out of Biodegradable Resin in future years.
